Over the winter break, Parker got both of us interested in mushroom foraging with a famous beginner's guide to foraging, All that the Rain Promises and More... We originally had plans to get a hostel at Point Reyes and go mushroom foraging with an expert; however, he got sick, and we pivoted to Samuel P. Taylor Park to both camp and forage mushroom with our friend Felix. No matter where we went, this little book would stay in our pocket, ready to identify any mushrooms at a moment's notice. This book brought us across the bay from Samuel P. Taylor, through the Berkeley hills, along the Santa Cruz Coast, and even Half Moon Bay.
